Sunday Suggestion: Ancestry GPS Alerts
I made two suggestions to Ancestry.com. I hope I wasn't the first suggester, and I hope I was the last just before they did it.
My phone has GPS. Many do now.
I'm hoping that the GPS in my phone could be integrated with the Ancestry App and alert me whenever I'm 50 miles away from my home and happen to drive near where an ancestor lived.
Facebook and foursquare do, essentially, the same thing with living people. There's less privacy concerns, by far, with the past relatives.
I'm also hoping that Ancestry.com, which recently acquired FindAGrave.com and promised a mobile app for that popular genealogy site soon, will come up with a GPS integration feature in the new app too. My idea is that when you visit or drive near a cemetery that it gives you an alert as to whom is buried there from your family tree. It also could alert you of requests for photos of other researcher's relatives buried in that same cemetery.
There's my Sunday Suggestion two-fer.
