"I have several pictures of the Merz family and Eugenia and the Bakers, they were in a trunk at my grandparents house--the Mogon's--and when they passed they ended up here."
This July e-mail from my new-found third cousin Sue in Pittsburgh, along with an invitation to visit, practically had me getting in my car that instant.
When I actually accepted the invite in early August, what I found confirmed my sense of urgency. What a treasure!
All told, Sue had five generations of family photos that included my 3GG Mary Elizabeth (Dickman) Schroeder, my 2GG's Eugene and Clara (Schroeder) Merz, my Great Grandparents Alfred and Beatrice (Merz) Baker, my Grandmother Eugenia (Baker) Platt, and my Aunt Charmion (Platt) Harrigan as a child.
The photo above included my grandma (youngest child at right) to my 3G grandmother (middle, left).
Treasure indeed.
